Change Over Time

The changes and continuities in the social structure in China in the 20th century were: women’s role, male dominance and importance and family structure.

The changes and continuities in the social structure in China in the 20th century were: Women’s role in the country of China. For women in China for a long period of their history, they stayed home most of the time taking care of their family and house. This is because females were not as important or useful as men and also most women had foot binding. The change that happened in China was when the Industrial Revolution began in China and factories were created, women were able to actually work and gain money for their families and help them out. Even though they got paid less than men they still got money and worked. What continues is that women now still work and they are even able to do more than they used to.

The changes and continuities in the social structure in China in the 20th century were: male dominance and importance. Since the beginning of China, males were always more valued than women in their society. This is because in China males were involved with everything, males were the only ones in government positions and they also did all the work. The change was that women were given more rights. The reason that they were given more rights was because of communism which made women equal to men but not completely. This still continues in China, women are given more rights and some equality as men but not all. This is because males are still important in Chinese society.

The changes and continuities in the social structure in China in the 20th century were: family structure in China. Originally families in China were sometimes rather larger. Most of the time they reason behind large families was because the couple either kept trying to have a male child, since they were important to their society. This problem lead to a very large population growth in China. The change that happen to make the population growth go down was the One Child Policy was placed in the late 1970s. This was placed so that the population of China was to go down and for the sake of economic development through increased access to minute resources for all. The One Child Policy is still help in China but there are a few rules and exceptions, like you can keep twins if born, if you are rich you can bribe officials to keep the second child, etc. This is because the population in China is still rather high so they still must keep decreasing the population.

In conclusion to the social structure of China are the role of women in the society and what they do. Second is male importance and their dominance in China. Finally, the family structure of China and its population.
